Hanna Wallis is an award-winning filmmaker and journalist focused on land defenders in the Americas. Her print, photo, and video work has appeared in major outlets such as The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, The Nation, Harpers, Orion Magazine, and others. She uses her diverse storytelling skills to partner with organizations and brands that are committed to advancing social and environmental. justice.
Hanna earned her masters in Global Journalism and Latin American Studies from New York University, where she began reporting in Colombia during the country’s peace process. Extending from that investigation, she launched her feature documentary, Until Forever, about an unarmed Indigenous resistance movement living at a hotbed of the Colombian conflict. The story follows a little girl for over six years as she grows up learning the ancestral struggle of her people to protect their territory and culture.
Hanna seeks out immersive, character-driven stories about resilience and community organizing. She is an International Women's Media Foundation fellow whose work has been recognized by One World Media Foundation and The Online Journalism Association. These days, she splits her time between Colombia and Los Angeles while finishing production of her documentary. Hanna is always open to new collaborations and partnerships.
