Hanna Wallis is a multimedia journalist who pursues stories that encourage empathy across diverse lines of belonging
Her work merges immersive documentary storytelling with original reporting. She’s interested in the subjective, lived expression of current issues— how they shape human relationships and cultural connection. Hanna has published in The Huffington Post, Latino USA, and The Latin America News Dispatch, and her work has been recognized by The Online Journalism Association.
Hanna earned her Masters in Global Journalism and Latin American studies from NYU, where she researched an indigenous resistance movement living at an epicenter of the Colombian conflict. She covered the peace process there, reporting from a town that has been seized by the FARC more than anywhere else in the country. Hanna hopes to keep telling stories about collective strength against oppression, finding lesser-heard perspectives that challenge people’s assumptions about one another.
She welcomes opportunities for collaboration. Reach out at Hanna.wallis(at)gmail.com
